Shasta Jones Honors Faculty



Shasta Jones is a demographer who has engaged in HIV/AIDS and general health behavior research in South Africa where she lived for 4.5 years. She has co-authored articles in Psychology and Health and Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine. Her interests include preventive health and tropical diseases in developing countries. Shasta is an Honors College graduate with a BA in Sociology and History. She completed her Ph.D. in Demography at the University of Pennsylvania. Shasta will teach Honors Introduction to Sociology. She previously taught Introduction to African American Studies and co-taught Race in American Society and the Summer Institute for Demographic Research at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching at the university level, Shasta enjoys teaching women’s wellness at a rehabilitation center, serving as a prayer partner at her church, reading, writing, traveling, and jogging.
