About the Health Center
The University of Houston Health Center is a comprehensive primary Health Care Facility. We offer affordable and accessible quality primary medical and mental health care. Our Pharmacy offers prescription and non-prescription medications at competitive prices often lower than off campus.
The University of Houston Health Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes our UH Health Center from many other out-patient facilities by assuring that the highest quality of care is delivered to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.
Status as an accredited organization means that the UH health Center has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. The UH Health Center is now one of only 13 university health centers in the state of Texas to be accredited.
All currently enrolled students at the University of Houston are eligible for all services of the Health Center. A valid picture ID is required at check-in.
The Health Center is financed by Student Service Fees and fees for services. A fee is charged for professional services, medications, laboratory procedures, and injections. Our prices are very competitive. Payment is due at time of service.
The only insurance plan accepted at time of payment is the UH Student Health Insurance. Service not covered by Student Health Insurance in accordance with the written terms of the policy is the responsibility of the student.
For all other insurance plans, the patient must pay at the time of service. A statement suitable for submission to their insurance will be provided.
The Health Center will accept Visa, MasterCard, or transfer to the patient’s university financial account.
Student Health Insurance
We do offer a Student Health Insurance Plan endorsed by and designed especially for the University of Houston. The University of Houston strongly encourages all students to carry health insurance; however insurance is not required to be seen by our health care professionals. Students will be seen in the Health Center with or without health insurance. A statement suitable for submission to their insurance will be provided.
