Sports
The history of sports in GISO dates back to to Spring 2000. It began as throw and bat tournament instead of bowling and batting. It was a six-a-side format with a girl compulsory on each side - who bowled and batted first. In Fall 2000, the tournament was christened Anubhav Cup. One girl in each team format was discontinued from this tournament later, but a girl featured in the second tournament as well. Dr. Wells (Industrial Engg.) was the chief guest for this tournament. In Spring 2001, cricket was played with all the actual rules and hence it changed from throw and bat to full-fledged bowling and batting tournament. The Spring 2003 tournament was sponsered by the BSM (Baptist Student Ministry) at the University of Houston. GISO has seen a lot of Cricket since Anubhav Cup was started. It has been a great sport event so far. But Cricket is not the only game GISO is planning to host. GISO Sports Committee has lot of plans for other games and recreational activities. Please visit the tournaments page for more details on tournaments and games to come. |
