WHEREAS, The University of Houston Faculty Senate is the official organization representing the faculty;

WHEREAS, The Student Government Association is the official organization representing students at the University of Houston,

WHEREAS, Students desire to keep the cost of their education as low as possible consistent with a high quality educational environment,

WHEREAS, The faculty strongly supports providing a high quality educational environment for students while providing this education at as reasonable a cost as possible,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Faculty Senate of the University of Houston voices its support for the following SGA resolution on textbooks,

RESOLVED, The Faculty Senate in conjunction with the Student Government Association formally encourages individual faculty and departments to submit textbook orders as early as possible; so that students and the bookstore have as much time as possible to search for low-cost books, and so that students receive maximum value for their textbooks during the textbook buy-back period at the end of each semester, and

RESOLVED, The Faculty Senate will continue to work with the Student Government Association and the University of Houston Bookstore to discuss problems with textbook adoptions, their cost, and to find ways to alleviate such problems.
