Forensic Team

Champions are lauded for their accomplishments and honored with awards.  The 11-time national champion UH Forensic Team has shelves of trophies for their collective and individual public speaking competitions, but they pride themselves on something else—the number of lives touched through their volunteer efforts.  Led by director Mike Fain, these UH champs volunteer to host or judge forensic competitions for area elementary, middle and high school students each week.   They estimate that in one year, they have touched the lives of more than 9,000 young people in their efforts to share their craft.

“The detriment of a society is taking our gifts and not giving back,” team member Lee Arnold said.

It is an attitude reflective of their champion status.
