Federal Agencies

U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) - The DOL administers federal labor laws to guarantee workers' rights to fair, safe, and healthy working conditions, including minimum hourly wage and overtime pay, protection against employment discrimination, and unemployment insurance. Relevant laws include the following: 

U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) - The DOJ enforces federal laws, seeks just punishment for the guilty, and ensures the fair and impartial administration of justice. The Civil Rights Division of the DOJ works to uphold civil and constitutional rights of all Americans, particularly some of the most vulnerable members of our society. The Division enforces federal statutes prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, disability, religion, familial status and national origin.

Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) - OFCCP holds those who do business with the federal government (contractors and subcontractors) responsible for complying with the legal requirement to take affirmative action and not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.  

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) - The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. The laws apply to all types of work situations, including hiring, firing, promotions, harassment, training, wages, and benefits.

U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) - OCR enforces several Federal civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination in programs or activities that receive federal financial asistance from the Department of Education.

State of Texas Agencies

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) - TWC is charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers of Texas. TWC provides information and analysis on shifts in occupations and industries within the state and seeks to reduce discrimination in employment and housing through education and enforcement of state and federal laws. 

Attorney General of Texas - The Attorney General is the State of Texas's chief legal officer.
