Margaret Culbertson

Margaret Culbertson is Director of the Kitty King Powell Library and Study Center at the Bayou Bend Collections and Gardens, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. After receiving a BA in Art History from Rice University and an MS in Library Service from Columbia University, she served as the Architecture and Art Librarian at the University of Houston from 1975 until 2004, when she became Director of the Hirsch Library at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She became the first director of Bayou Bend's Kitty King Powell Library in July of 2010. Ms. Culbertson has published extensively in the fields of architectural history and art librarianship. Her book Texas Houses Built by the Book: The Use of Published Designs, 1850-1925 received an honorary citation from the San Antonio Conservation Society and an award from the Art Libraries Society of North America.
