Appointment Tips

  • Scheduled appointments are best for degree planning or complex individual situations.
  • Walk-in Days are better suited for shorter, simpler needs such as quick questions, petition drop off, etc.
  • If you need assistance that does not require a face-to-face meeting, please email you advisor, and he/she will respond as soon as possible.
  • Advising holds (or service indicators) are placed on selected COE students’ accounts in order to encourage students to meet regularly with their advisors. An advising hold will block students from registering for courses until they have met with an advisor. We recommend that you meet with your advisor as early as possible to avoid long wait times.
  • Non-peak times are during the months of September/October and February/March.
  • Peak Times are November-January and early May until the beginning of September.
  • In the event that you must cancel your advising appointment, please do so with at least 24 hours of notice by canceling your appointment in PeopleSoft. Also, you must contact your advisor via email if you are unable to attend an appointment.  This demonstrates respect for the time of other students and your advisor.
  • You are considered late if you arrive ten minutes past your scheduled appointment time. If you are late, your advisor may not be able to be see you and may need to reschedule your appointment.
  • Print and review your Advisement Report ahead of your meeting so that you can ask questions about any issues you find there.
