Major Student Organizations
Student Video Network (SVN) at the University of Houston is a student-run television station and one of the seven fee-funded organizations within the Center of Student Involvement. SVN provides students the unique opportunity to develop television shows, commercials, and special features for the small screen, experiencing the entire process from inception to air.
The Council of Ethnic Organizations is a student fee–funded organization that promotes cultural awareness and appreciates the diversity at the University of Houston. We are compromised of individuals and member group organizations that represent the diverse student body and interests of the University of Houston.
Dance On is one of 100+ Dance Marathon programs run by students at universities and colleges across the country. All proceeds from Dance On go directly to our local Children's Miracle Network children's hospital, Texas Children's Hospital. Dance On is present to create emotional support and financial awareness for the families.
Frontier Fiesta is a student–run, student–led festival hosted by the University of Houston to promote scholarship, community, and education in the University of Houston students, staff, and faculty, as well as in the Houston community.
Homecoming at the University of Houston is one of the oldest and dearest traditions on campus. The mission of Homecoming Board is to encourage campus pride in the student body that will translate into a life-long support for the University of Houston.
The Metropolitan Volunteer Program is a student run organization at the University of Houston. MVP began its service in 1989, and assists our University students and/or members of the Houston community with finding volunteer opportunities with non–profit agencies. In addition, we help agencies promote Special Events where volunteer services are needed.
The Student Government Association exists to represent the interest of the students by serving as a liaison between the University and community. Students are our top priority and we are always working on a variety of issues aimed at enhancing campus life and improving the student experience. From student services to food services; from academic issues to safety concerns, what ever your issue may be, SGA has a solution for you.
The Student Program Board (SPB) at the University of Houston is a major student organization that exists to create programs that appeal to the student body by providing an array of diverse activities throughout the year.
The UH Forensic Society (UHFS) is possibly the most unique collegiate speech/debate teams in the U.S. 150 members divide their efforts into three parts :competing, hosting, and volunteering. With this unique design, the UHFS encourages ALL students, both undergraduate and graduate, to participate in any/all parts of our annual activities.
