Laboratory for the Neural Bases of Bilingualism
The lab investigates language processing in bilinguals in studies ranging from those which investigate the nature of word recognition and production to those which examine semantic and syntactic aspects of language. We have also run a series of control studies with monolinguals to further elucidate the nature of language learning and language processing. Our work has used brain imaging as well as behavioral methods and has been funded by grants from the National Institute on Aging, National Institute of Deafness and Communicative Disorders, National Science Foundation, the UC Linguistic Minority Research Institute, UC Mexus and University of Houston Grant to Enhance and Advance Research.
