Graduating Students Pursue Diverse Careers

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences celebrated spring graduation on May 9, 2014. Students (and parents) often wonder what people do with degrees in political science. Here is a sample of where some of our spring 2014 graduates are headed next:

Paula Santamaria (Political Science major) has been appointed by the White House to a two year position as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff for the National Endowment for the Arts.

Garrett Brodeur (Political Science minor) will attend Duke University Law School in the fall.

Tiffany Cebrun (Political Science major) will attend Howard University Law school in the fall. Read more about her plans and experiences here.

Karnecia Connor (Political Science major) will teach with Teach for America, and will then attend graduate school at UT Austin.

Angela Kao (Political Science/Economics major), Anatasia Kirichenko (Political Science major), and Cynthia Melian (Political Science/Spanish major) will start law school at the UH Law Center in the fall. You can read more about Ms. Melian’s background and her time as a Leland Fellow here.

Valerie Luna (Political Science major) will start as a full-time staffer for Houston Councilwoman Ellen Cohen.

Sravanithi Padullaparti (Political Science major) is headed to the University of Maryland Baltimore County to pursue her Masters in Public Policy, with a focus on health policy.

Dallas Perez (Political Science major) will enter the Certificate in Accounting Program at UH Bauer Business College.

Robert Ross (Ph.D Political Science) has an appointment as an assistant professor at Utah State University. Read more about his plans and studies here.

Crystal Sowemimo (Political Science major) will start a position in Chicago as Citizen Outreach Director for the Fund for the Public Interest.

Katie Teeters (Political Science/History major) will be attending William & Mary Law School in the Fall.
