Casey Dué Hackney

Dr. Casey Dué Hackney (Associate Professor, Classical Studies) has been selected as one of the six winners of the 2010 University of Houston Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship.

Dr. Hackney attended Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she received her M.A. in Classical Philology and Ph.D. in Classical Philology. Hackney's academic interests include: Homeric poetry, Greek oral traditions, and Greek tragedy.

This award is given to those who have established a growing record of outstanding research, scholarship, or creative contributions, and who are at the point of emerging leadership in their field. Each award recipient receives $5,000.

Hackney was also the recipient of the CLASS Teaching Excellence Award in 2004.
