December 2: CLASS Resume Table

University Career Services has set this time aside specifically for CLASS students. They will review your resume on the first floor of Agnes Arnold Hall from 10 a.m. – noon. They will return again on December 12 to review resumes at the Blaffer Art Museum Courtyard. read more

December 2: $tart $mart Salary Negotiation Workshop

$tart $mart is an interactive workshop designed to give college women the confidence and skills they need to earn fair compensation. December 16: CLASS Convocation Ceremony

CLASS Convocation will include all Fall 2016 bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degree candidates and all Summer 2016 graduates from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Families and friends are encouraged to attend. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. in the UH Basketball facility. read more

January 6-8: Population and Public Policy Conference

The 2017 Population and Public Policy Conference will be held at the JW Marriott in Houston. The main aim of the conference is to bring together educators and policy makers from the U.S. and around the world to network, educate and share their research with colleagues and students. The conference is sponsored by the Hobby School of Public Affairs, University of Houston, Center for Geospatial and Population Studies, University of New Mexico and the International Applied Demography Association. read more

January 23: Super Bowl Super Masculinities

This conversation, which is hosted by Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, features a conversation with community and academic leaders. It will be held from 11:30a.m. – 1 p.m. at Rockwell Pavilion in the M.D. Anderson Library. Participants will discuss how the super bowl informs American masculinity. read more

January 24: Race and Sports Panel

The Race and Sports panel is hosted by African American Studies. This panel will feature Olympic medal winner John Carlos and former NFL player Stanford Routt. Melanie Lawson, anchor with Houston’s ABC affiliate KTRK, will serve as moderator. The event will take place in the Rockwell Pavillion at M.D. Anderson Library at 11:30 a.m.

January 31: Summit on Sports Media

The Summit on Sports Media, hosted by the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication, Comcast, and Leverage Sports Marketing, will gather sports communication experts and industry thought leaders from major athletics brands, professional and college teams and media outlets to discuss the future of sports media. This must-attend event will address the technological developments shaping the field of communication and how major sports corporations are applying them to engage with their fans. Attendees will also gain insight into the emerging trends transforming the ways we create sports media. It will be held at the Student Center South, Houston Ballroom from 9a.m. to 5 p.m.
