August 10: Summer 2016 Fulbright Workshop

Over the years, CLASS has had a number of students participate in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs. During their grants, Fulbrighters meet, work, live with and learn from the people of the host country, sharing daily experiences. This workshop is for undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent alumni applying to the 2017 -2018 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. read more

August 18: MPA Back-to-School Social

Master of Public Administration students are invited to attend this event to kick off the new semester. It will be held at Local Pour (1952 W. Gray St., Houston, TX 77019) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. CLASS’s MPA program provides higher levels of training and education for pre-service and in-service public managers, public policy analysts and public officials to address major public policy issues in a metropolitan scenario. read more

August 22-26: Valenti School of Communication Welcome Back Week

The Jack J. Valenti School of Communication has scheduled a series of events and activities for all students, faculty and staff of the Valenti School of Communication as well as the university at large. Activities include a scavenger hunt, a “meet the organizations” event, and a Valenti Town Hall. read more

August 26: CLASS new faculty luncheon

This annual, invitation-only event is where the CLASS Dean welcomes new incoming faculty to the University of Houston. In addition, new faculty members have the opportunity to meet one another and learn about each other’s research interests and educational backgrounds. This year, 25 new faculty members are joining CLASS from a wide variety of disciplines.

August 31: Getting started in research information session

Undergraduate students who are interested in participating in research opportunities with a faculty mentor are invited to attend this information session from 12-1:00 p.m. in the Honors College, room 212W. As a research assistant, students have an opportunity to contribute to original scholarship at the undergraduate level while working one-on-one in collaboration with a faculty mentor. read more

September 1: Learning Abroad Fall Fair

UH offers many opportunities for students to enhance their studies by learning abroad and immerse themselves in another culture while simultaneously earning college credit. The Learning Abroad office is hosting a fair from 11:00am - 2:00pm in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion, 2nd floor of M.D. Anderson Library for students to get information on the study abroad opportunities currently available. read more


September 8: HHP Distinguished Leader Series with Dr. Ping Zhou

Health & Human Performance is hosting a distinguished leader series, and the next speaker is Dr. Ping Zhou of the University of Texas Health Science Center Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The event will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Classroom and Business Building (CBB), room 104. read more
