January 16 – Materiality Visiting Artist and Scholar Series: Don Cameron, Sublime Discontent: The Art of Tony Feher
6:30 p.m., Blaffer Art Museum
The Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture Series is a collaboration between the School of Art and Blaffer Art Museum to bring visiting artists and scholars to the University of Houston. The organizing theme for the 2012- 2013 series is “Materiality” which is inspired by the School of Art curriculum and by Blaffer Art Museum’s twenty year survey exhibition of work by American sculptor Tony Feher. Dan Cameron is Chief Curator at the Orange County Museum of Art.

January 28 – University-wide Martin Luther King Day Celebration
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., Houston Room, 2nd floor of the University Center
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is... What are you doing for others?”
Bring your lunch as speakers comment briefly on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., followed by a roundtable discussion with students, faculty and staff. Punch and light refreshments will be provided.
