Research Interests

My research interests include the investigation of the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms responsible for muscle wasting (i.e., atrophy, damage, and weakness) with age, inactivity, disuse, and diseases (i.e., Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Cancer), and the examination of the effects of therapeutic exercise and pharmacological and nutritional interventions on oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, mitochondrial function, contractile proteins, whole muscle/single muscle fiber physiology, and physical performance.
