Dr. Clarke Leads at the Faculty Senate

The University of Houston held its 14th annual Faculty Scholarship and Community Conference on energy on April 23rd 2010.

HHP faculty Dr. Mark Clarke as president of the UH faculty Senate played a lead role in organizing the conference.

The conference, titled "Houston - The Future of Energy," was designed to build awareness of the current and emerging energy initiatives at the university. Several hundred people, including energy industry executives and UH researchers, gathered at the Hilton University of Houston Hilton to discuss traditional and alternative resources and other energy-related issues.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst gave the keynote speech, stressing the need to provide affordable energy to a growing Texas. "We've got to figure out a way to get (energy) costs down," Dewhurst said, who praised UH President Renu Khator for the university's commitment to energy research.
