HHP Students Win Scholarships from AAIS.

Several HHP students won scholarship awards from The University of Houston African American Initiative for Scholarships (AAIS) for the year 2010-2011. The awards were presented at the recent University of Houston Black Alumni Association 21st. Annual Scholarship & Awards Celebration.

The following HHP and COE students won awards:

Quione Cooke – Psychology/Kinesiology ($1000.00)
Joshua Medlock – Kinesiology ($1000.00)
Qualandria Steward – Health/Pre-Nursing ($1000.00)
Jessica Osayiogie Ogbonmwan – Chemistry/Education ($5000.00)

The awards gala was held on March 12th at the UH Hilton, with James T. Campbell and Jarvis Hollingsworth serving as honorary chairs, proceeds from the event benefited UHBAA Scholarships, programs and the African American Initiative for Scholarships (AAIS).

The African American Initiative for Scholarships (AAIS) is comprised of the-following organizations:
UH Black Alumni Association, UH Cougars Athletic Alliance and The Black Leadership Network at The University of Houston.

The mission of the University of Houston Black Alumni Association (UHBAA) is to create and nurture lifelong relationships between its key stakeholders - the university and its black alumni and friends; support and advance black alumni in their pursuit of excellence; create quality alumni programming that will stimulate interest, build allegiance to the university, increase involvement in UHBAA activities and generate support for the university.
