Aaron Duplantier earned his PhD in English from Louisiana State University in May 2015. His primary areas of research include realistic televisual representation especially that of American reality shows such as Jersey Shore and Wife Swap, social media and internet culture, and Louisiana folklore. His book Authenticity and How We Fake It: Belief and Subjectivity in Reality TV, Facebook and YouTube was published by McFarland Press in July 2016. He teaches English Composition, American Literature, and Pop Culture classes.
