Honors Day 2013

On May 1st,  2013 the English Department honored the accomplishments of its outstanding undergraduates at its annual Honors Day Ceremony. At the event, presided over by Professor Maria Gonzalez, Director of Upper Division Studies, faculty, family members, donors, and friends joined in to recognize winners of the English Department's many competitive awards for excellence in literary and critical writing and research, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, as well as achievements as editorial assistants, consultants, and in student leadership. Distinguished Honors Day speaker Mary Manning, Librarian in the M.D. Anderson Library's special collections, spoke to the students and guests about her professional journey and its beginnings in the English classroom at UH. After the awards ceremony, students, family, faculty and friends mingled over our traditional Goode Co. barbecue lunch in the quadrangle.
