Presented by the Center for Arts Leadership at University of Houston and Arts & Culture Texas
Profiles in Leadership are conversations about cultural influence, aesthetic visions and seizing opportunities. In dialogue with Director Sixto Wagan and noted guests, recognized leaders in the arts – performers and philanthropists, curators and community leaders, artists and administrators - examine the path and decision-making processes they took to define, communicate and realize change and breakthroughs.

The University of Houston is celebrating its Homecoming this November, and Center for Arts Leadership at University of Houston director Sixto Wagan sat down with Robin Reagler, a UH alumna who is shaping future leaders locally and across the country as the Executive Director of Writers in the Schools (WITS) in Houston, TX and the head of the WITS Alliance, a national consortium of over 30 literary education groups.
Each year WITS serves 28,000 students in K-12 with long-term literary programs locally, and through the Alliance, she consults with writers starting new programs in the US and Canada. Robin earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a PhD from the University of Houston’s Creative Writing Program. Her poems have been published in Ploughshares, North American Review, American Letters & Commentary, Denver Quarterly, Iowa Review, and VOLT, and her chapbook Dear Red Airplane appeared in 2011.
