“The child only deeply understands that which he has created.”
–Jean Piaget, Developmental Psychologist
We are the Excavators!
We are a mix of kindergarteners and first graders. We are a special community of learners. We are curious, and we ask great questions. We learn through speaking, listening, reading, writing, building, playing, dancing, creating, and experimenting. We work together, and we help each other. Throughout the year, our hearts, our bodies, and our minds grow a lot!
Important Classroom Information
Your child will bring a yellow folder filled with information, finished school work, and homework home each Tuesday. Please read the information and support your child in completing their homework. The folder needs to be returned to school by the following Monday.
On Wednesdays, we visit the school library. Children may bring their library books home or leave them at school. Help your child remember to have their book ready to be returned the following Wednesday so that they can check out a new one.
Read with your child each day. Some of this time can be your child reading to you, and some of this time can be you reading to your child. This shared home literacy experience is critical in helping your child become a great reader and thinker.
I look forward to working in partnership with you this year! You can reach me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the school.
