TxDOT is in the middle of a large, multi-phase project on the northbound side of I-45. As the city works to move this project along, various roads near the University of Houston will be impacted in some way. Phase 1 - March 2017

As a result of PHASE 1 of TxDOT's I-45 Northbound Direct Connector Project, the fully elevated portion of Spur 5 northbound between the University and the downtown destinations exits will be close beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017. This area is expected to remain closed for seven to nine months.

The Parking and Transportation Services team knows this closure will impact a number of UH students, faculty, staff and visitors, so we have outlined a few alternate routes and ways to get to some popular destinations in the area. Click the links below to view detour maps.

Phase 1 - November 2017

-Update 11/2/17: TxDOT will be closing two outside lanes on I-45 from Cullen to the I-69 interchange from 9 p.m. on Friday, November 3 to 5 a.m. on Saturday, November 4. This closure will allow them to make preparations for the upcoming construction projects, which are listed below. Updates can be found on the TranStar website.
