First Sustainability Meetup of Spring Semester Planned

UH students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to network and learn more about waste and recycling at the first of two spring sustainability meetups as part of UH’s participation in the 2016 RecycleMania competition.

The first meetup will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 17 in the Health and Biomedical Sciences Building, Room 186. The UH Office of Sustainability will present videos featuring people living without waste, the recycling process and food waste-reduction strategies. Office of Sustainability staff will provide commentary on the videos, and the event will conclude with a group discussion. A light homemade meal will be provided with vegan and gluten-free options.

The February meetup is one of many events taking place during the national RecycleMania competition, which continues until April 2. The competition invites colleges across the U.S. and Canada to benchmark and improve efforts to reduce or eliminate waste. Future UH RecycleMania events include a second sustainability meetup on March 8 and an electronics recycling drive on April 1.
