STATE REP. CHUCK L. HOPSON TO BE HONORED
AS DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
BY UH COLLEGE OF PHARMACY AT ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP DINNER
Known for his dedication to pharmacists in Texas, State Rep. Chuck
L. Hopson has put forth a zealous effort to find solutions for mandatory
mail-order prescriptions for state employees. Actions such as these
have earned Hopson the honor of being chosen by the University of
Houston’s College of Pharmacy as a Distinguished Alumni at
the Ninth Annual Stewardship Dinner, 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21.
Held at the Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond, Texas, the ceremony
will be attended by the college’s faculty, staff, alumni and
donors.
Keeping active in the profession, Hopson, a Jacksonville native,
has served his community as an independent pharmacy owner since
1973, as well as serving as a member of the Financial Institutions
Committee, Texas Pharmacy Association, the Nan Travis Hospital Foundation
and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Hopson operates
as vice chairman for the Committee on Corrections and has recently
been appointed to the Board of Trustees for Lon Morris College in
Jacksonville.
Hopson represents the 11th District of the Texas House, which includes
Cherokee, Houston, Panola and Rusk counties. He graduated from the
UH College of Pharmacy with his master’s in pharmacy in 1965.
