Paralegal Information Sessions are held at the UH Hilton, Continuing Education wing. To learn more about this exciting opportunity, reserve your space at a Paralegal Information Session by calling 713.743.1060 or sending email to ceregistrar@uh.edu. Refreshments will be provided! Benefits and Format of the UH Certificate in Paralegal StudiesThe UH Paralegal Certificate Program is intensive and comprehensive. Many students are unable to take two years to change professions. Many are looking to advance in their current positions, and a one- or two-year program is not an option. This program will provide you with the skills necessary to function effectively within the paralegal profession and to enter the marketplace quickly. The intensive format makes it possible to start your new career without spending a full day, every day in class. Students can keep their current job while attending on the weekend or in the evening, thereby helping to defray the cost of their paralegal education. Then once the program has been completed the student can join the ranks of the paralegal profession. The UH program adheres to the long-acknowledged position that getting into the paralegal workforce as soon as possible and gaining invaluable on-the-job experience is a valid alternative to spending years in full-time school, usually precluding working as a paralegal while attending school. Who Should ParticipateIf you have a desire to enter the legal field, this program is for you. If you are looking for an exciting, stimulating career; are currently employed in a law firm; are considering law school; are making a career change; are wanting to know more about the legal profession; then this program is for you! Students must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and have basic word-processing skills. Students with undergraduate and graduate degrees are welcome, too. The more education and experience you have going into this certificate program, the higher your potential starting salary will be.
