Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units (CEU) are offered for full participation in most courses. The CEU is defined as “10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.” To receive CEU for courses participants must attend at least 80 percent of the class sessions and successfully complete the program. (Successful completion is determined by individual program requirements. Some programs may set greater minimum attendance standards.) Continuing education units are recognized nationally as a measure of substantive in-service education and training.

Accreditation and Endorsements

The University of Houston is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as a Level IV, General postsecondary institution. How We’re Funded

Continuing education programs of UH Continuing Education are self-supporting. We use course registration fees—not tax money or state appropriated funds—to meet our program development, course operation and overhead costs.

We are proud of this fact because it means, first of all, that there is a need for our programs in the marketplace, and secondly, that we must always strive to respond to the needs of the community. If there is a course or series of courses you cannot find on this web site, or if you have suggestions about how we can improve our offerings, please call 713.743.1060 or email ceregistrar@uh.edu.

The University of Houston is an affirmative action/equal opportunity institution. Persons with disabilities requiring special accommodations may call 713-743-1060.
