Michael Rierson’s responsibilities include overseeing development and public affairs efforts at the university and coordinating advancement activities for the UH System universities and multi-institution teaching centers.
Prior to his UH appointment on October 15, 2005, Mr. Rierson served as the vice president for university advancement at the University of South Florida as well as USF Foundation president. During his tenure there, Mr. Rierson led USF’s largest annual giving year and secured the largest gift in the institution’s history--$34.5 million.
Mr. Rierson is a School of Journalism graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also earned a master’s degree in communication. A leader in educational development, he has held positions at the University of Miami, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
